Посол Франции в Латвии Стефан Висконти в резиденции Посольства в Риге провел прием по случаю государственного праздника Франции — День взятия Бастилии.

На приеме присутствовали государственные деятели Латвии, дипломаты, предприниматели, деятели науки и культуры.

Посол Франции Стефан Висконти поздравительное выступлении произнес на французском и латышском языках. Он поздравил всех с национальным праздником Франции 14 июля, пожелал успехов и процветания народам Франции и Латвии, всем присутствующим.

14 июля 1789 году была разрушена тюрьма Бастилия – символ деспотизма и угнетения французского народа. В 1790 году в этот день впервые был отмечен праздник Федерации, окончательно объединивший французский народ. С тех пор это событие считается началом Великой французской революции.

Закон об избрании этой даты национальным праздником Франции был принят 6 июля 1880 года.

Appeal to world leaders and humanity

Diplomatic Economic Club strongly condemns and is not accepting any kind of aggression, military collisions, wars between countries, which are happening here close in the center of Europe, on the other continents of the world, in Asia, in Africa. Nothing can justify the use of force in any cases, everywhere it leads to suffering of civilians. We call all parts, leaders of all levels for a peaceful solution of any disagreements through the dialog and negotiations. Only the Peace on our planet, olny Friendship and mutual understanding promote the life of people. *Please don't even* allow yourself any thought about World War III, about nuclear weapons. All the humanity remembers the wars of the 20th century, and if somebody has forgotten, please remember. Stop War!
