Reception of the Embassy of Belgium in Latvia
Reception of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium in Latvia on the occasion of the Kings Day of Belgium was held November 13th at the Museum of the History of Medicine Pauls Stradins
Belgian Ambassador to Latvia Frank Arnauts delivered the welcome speech in the Latvian language. He noted that the reception is held in the museum, as in 20-30 years of XX century there was the first Belgian Embassy in Latvia.
The Ambassador presented the exhibition «Anatom. Fabrica of the human body», dedicated to the 500th anniversary from the day of birth of the outstanding physician of Belgium, the founder of the science of anatomy Andreas Vesalius. Scientific work «De humani corporis fabrica» (1543) caused a revolution in ideas about the structure of the human body.
Hymns Belgium, Latvia and the European Union were performed by saxophone quartet from the Latvian Academy of Music
Ambassador Frank Arnauts congratulated on the occasion of the Day of the Kings Day, wished success and prosperity to the people of Belgium and Latvia.
Holiday November 15 was established by the Belgian King Leopold II and celebrated since 1866 This day symbolizes the unity of the Belgian nation in all its political, cultural and linguistic diversity.
