Georgia’s ambassador to Latvia Teimuraz Janjalia led an evening to celebrate Georgia’s Independence Day, which falls into May 26
On May 26, 1918, Georgia’s democratic government declared Georgia’s independence. This day layed foundation for the modern Independence Day holiday.
A referendum on the independence of Georgia found place end of March 1991. Afterwards, on April 1991 the Supreme council pronounced the Act on the restoration of Georgia’s independence by placing in force the independence Act of 1918 and the constitution from 1921.
