Laying flowers at Lusavsala in Riga

The tragic event in local history happened in the beginning of the great northern war, when the Swedes by beating Saxons, decided to get rid of the Russians, who were on the Island Lucavsala in Riga without contribution. The Swedish army, greater in number, hoped to win easily, but failed.
Swedish King Charles XII on arrival saw a majority of his soldiers dead and twenty Russian soldiers shooting back at redoubt.

Riga Business Club for more than ten years ago for its own expense rebuilt this monument and has since been pursuing the annual wreath-laying ceremony on the Island Lucasvala in Riga.
