Reception of the Embassy of Georgia in Latvia
2 On May 27, 2019 in Riga, the Ambassador of Georgia to Latvia, Tea Maisuradze, held a solemn reception on the occasion of the Independence Day of Georgia, which was celebrated in on May 26. The reception took place in the reception hall of the House of Blackheads in Riga. The reception was attended by representatives of the government and Latvian Saema.
The national anthems of the countries were performed by a childrens choir from Latvia and Georgian singers.
In 1918, the Georgian government declared the independence of the country and now it stepped over the centenary anniversary.At a referendum in March 1991, a decision was made to restore the state independence of Georgia and on April 9, 1991 the Supreme Council of the Republic adopted the Act on the restoration of state independence of Georgia.
The Ambassador of Georgia, Mrs. Tea Maysuradze, in her address to the guests congratulated the guests on the holiday, wished well-being and prosperity to the people of Georgia and Latvia.
In her response, the Chairwoman of Latvian Saema Ināra Mūrniece expressed confidence in the further development of relations between the countries and congratulated the people of Georgia on the holiday.
A concert was held, where popular Georgian and Latvian songs sounded.
