Reception of the Italian Embassy
On May 31, 2024, a reception was held at the Italian Embassy in Latvia on the occasion of the national holiday Italian National Day.
The Ambassador of Italy Alessandro Monti, addressed the guests with a welcoming speech, congratulated the guests on the holiday, and wished success and prosperity to the peoples of the two countries.
The Ambassador presented awards to representatives of Latvia for their contribution to the development of cultural and scientific relations between Latvia and Italy.
On June 2, Italians celebrate Italian National Day the birthday of the new system of public administration.
In 1946, the Italian population (including women for the first time) took part in elections to vote for the Republic. This meant rejecting the monarchy, changing the system of government to a republican one and electing members of the Assembly, which would create a new Italian constitution (approved in 1948).
