Reception Embassy of Belarus
On July 2, 2010 Mr.Gerasimenko, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus held the reception on the occasion to the Republic Belarus Independence Day- the main holiday of the Belarusian Republic, celebrated on July 3.
Mr.Gerasimenko recorded the achievements of the Republic of Belarus, expressed the importance of developing the friendship and neighborly attitude and mutually advantageous economic relations between Belarus and Latvia. Wished hapiness,success and health!
National dancing and vocal collective from Brest appeared on the stage.
National melodies and bright performance of the youth artists supported festive atmosphere and aroused guests’ applauses and admiration.
Guests on the reception where from different countries: Latvia, Russia, Belgium, Slovak, Switzerland, Germany, Kazakhstan and others.
The Republic Belarus Independence Day is celebrated each year on July 3. Belarus capital’s, Minsk, liberation from the German fascist’s happened on July 3, 1944 also.
Since 1991 the Independence Day was celebrated on July 27, the date , when Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Belarus adopted the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Republic of Belarus. The Republic of Belarus proclaimed its independence from the Soviet Republic on August 25, 1991 , but formally independence was obtained on December 26, 1991.
The decision about the Independence Day celebrating on July 3, (the same date, when liberation from the German fascist’s happened) , was taken during the Republic Referendum in 1996.
