Carlos Arredondo-Martinez
Honorary consul of Mexico in Riga
Was born in Mexico City in 1945.
Graduated in 1968 as Geological Engineer from National Autonomous University of Mexico, he started his professional activities (1967-1968) as Specialist in Oil Exploration in Mexico City at the Mexican Petroleum Institute.
In 1968 he started postgraduate studies at Moscow State University „M.V. Lomonosov“.
In 1973 he obtained his Ph.D. degree in Geology and Mineralogy. From 1973 to 1978 he collaborated as Head of the Department of Geochemistry in the Geological Institute at National Autonomous University of Mexico.
In 1978 Dr. Arredondo-Martinez was appointed by the Mexican National Council of Science and Technology (CONACyT) as Scientific Counselor at Embassy of Mexico in Moscow.
In 1982, Dr. Arredondo-Martinez was invited to work as Technical Assistant to the Representation for Europe of Petroleos Mexicanos – PEMEX (Economic services of the Embassy of Mexico), where he collaborated until 1984, when he was appointed Coordinator of Geochemical Exploration in PEMEX headquarters at Mexico City.
From 1990 to 1993, Dr. Carlos Arredondo-Martinez served as Commercial Counselor for Mexican National Bank of Foreign Trade (BANCOMEXT) at Embassy of Mexico in Moscow.
From 1993 to 1998, he collaborated with Mexican tobacco manufacturer Cigarrera la Moderna as Regional Manager for Europe with offices in Brussels, Belgium and Moscow (1996-1997).
From 1997 he has served as independent consultant in Belgium (1997-1999) and in Latvia, from 1999 until today.
In Latvia he founded two companies: SIA Sacco Corporate Strategy (for Latin American projects) and SIA Equantia Latvia (for Spanish and European projects); both companies are specialized in foreign trade assistance.
In 2000 Dr. Carlos Arredondo-Martinez was appointed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico as Honorary consul of Mexico in Riga.
