3rd May Constitution Day

On May, 5 the Ambassador of Poland Mr. Jerzy Marek Nowakowski held a reception on the occasion of Constitution Day of Poland and the World Day of Polish Community, in Big Guild, Riga.
Poland enacted its Constitution on May, 3, 1791 and was the first in Europe to do so.
According to the Constitution, Poland was proclaimed as constitutional Monarchy with a Parliament, which was elected every 2 years.After a year Poland lost it’s independence due to the division between Russia, Austria and Prussia, but in 1918 Poland reunited and 3rd May was declared as official holiday.
In 1990 Constitution Day was declared as official holiday of Country.

The concert took a place – opera singer Elina Mitina and accompanist Inna Davydova performed F.Сhopin’s and S. Monyushko compositions.
