Guest in the Club – Ambassador of the Republic of Poland
On the 24th November 2011 the Diplomatic Economic Club held a meeting „Evening tea in the Club: guest in the Club Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Latvia H.E. Mr. Jerzy Marek Nowakowski "
This year in the Club were held a number of informal meetings with ambassadors. The Ambassador of Poland, H.E. Mr. Jerzy Marek Nowakowski, told about the development of his country, about the mutually beneficial economical relations between Latvia and Poland.
A good drive to the development of Polish economy was given by the upcoming football championship EURO 2012, which will take place in 2 countries – Poland and Ukraine. The benefits especially relate to the development of new and renovation of old infrastructure, what is very expensive process for every country, but at the same time it is also a necessary condition and instrument for planning and reaching the next steps of economic development. Directions of economic development of Poland were shown in the presentation.
Guests were told about the positive example of Poland, where possible percent (%) of state debt is defined in the country’s constitution, and the government has a certain responsibility in case of failing to meet these criteria.
Trade-economical relations of Latvia are developing dynamically, and there is a ground to believe that joint turnover of goods of both countries could reach 1 billion EUR, what corresponds to the development plans of railway; construction of so called „electricity bridges“ between Poland and Lithuania, and further to Latvia; attraction of Polish investments to Latvia and further development of trade.
Ambassador answered of questions from the Club members.
Members of the Club expressed sincere thankfulness for the possibility to meet and interesting conversation to Mr. Jerzy Marek Nowakowski, and as per tradition presented him a memorable souvenir about the meeting.
The Ambassador of Ukraine in Mr. Anatoly Olyjnik and First Secretary of the Embassy Mrs Alla Gornickaya took part in the meeting.
