Traditional Christmas Soup at Slovakian Embassy
Ambassador of Slovakia in Latvia Peter Hatiar with his wife organized a traditional friendly Christmas reception. Guests were offered to try traditional Slovakian Christmas soup, made of cabbage.
Pre-Christmas meeting at Slovakian Embassy in Latvia is held yearly in the first part of December starting from year 2001.
Main focus of the reception « cabbage soup », it contains a lot of meat and cabbage.
A variation of cabbage soup recipe (for 3 liters), suggested by the wife of the Ambassador of Slovakia:
Sour cabbage, sliced onion, dry spicy sausage,
a bit of ham and dried white mushrooms (previously kept in water),
garlic clove, tablespoon of flour, 2 tablespoons vegetable oil,
tablespoon of dried sweet paprika, 1 tablespoon of dark raisins, a bit of dried plums.
Sweet ingredients counterforce the sour cabbage taste.
