Maslenitsa is an ancient slavonic week long holiday with a lot of traditions. The culmination of the holidat is on Sunday, in 2015 it was on February 22, .

Members of Diplomatic Economic Club participated the festival, organized in Medical SPA for the inhabitants of Jurmala.«Amber shore»

Maslenitsa is a celebration of the end of the winter and expectation of coming spring and warmness.

The main attributes of the festival were folk program, the scarecrow of Lady Maslenitsa, 6 m high column with the prizes on it, kermis and riding on horses.

Many dishes were prepared during the holiday: pancakes –oval, warm with salmon and caviar, honey, jam and sour cream, pretzels, flapjacks, donuts and other dishes of Russian kitchen.

The pancakes symbolizes sun, which elongates the photic day. The culmination of the holiday — The burning of Lady Maslenitsa – spring is coming!

Members of the Club express the Director of Sanatorium „Amber shore“ gratefulness for the chance to participate such an ancient festival.
