Reception of the Embassy of Poland in Latvia
Each year on 3 of May in Poland is the national holiday Third of May (Swieto Narodowe Trzeciego Maja), and the Celebration of Constitution of 3 of May (Swieto Konstytucji 3 Maja), the anniversary of the adoption in 1791 of the Constitution of the country.
Reception of the Poland Embassy in Latvia on occasion of the National holiday took place at the Great Guild hall in Riga on 13 of May.
There were invited diplomats, the Polish community in Latvia, representatives of business circles.
The guests were addressed by Ambassador of the Republic of Poland Ms. Eva Dembska.
The first Polish Constitution is the oldest in modern Europe adopted in 1787 and second in world history after of the Constitution of the United States. According to the Constitution, Poland was proclaimed a country under the control of a hereditary constitutional monarchy and Parliament.
On 3 of May 1918 the country proclaimed an official holiday and on 3 of May 1990 the Celebration of Constitution was restored and declared a national holiday.
The Polish Ambassador Eva Dembska congratulated the guests on the holiday, wished success and prosperity to the peoples of Poland and Latvia.
During the reception a concert dedicated to the holiday and end of the presidency of Poland in the position of the Council of the Baltic sea.
At the concert «Music of the Baltic landscape» was made by the famous Polish string quartet from Silesia. They played masterpieces by composers from four countries Poland, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia.
