Dear friends of the Diplomatic Economic Club,
Happy New Year!
And while I wish you a healthy and prosperous 2020!

The start of a new year is always a good moment to look back. In 2019, the club organized a number of excellent meetings with diplomats and business representatives.
For me personally, it was a pleasure to host the ambassador of my country Belgium to talk about the relations with Latvia and his work as ambassador.

2019 will go into history as a year of protests, Brexit and increasing trade barriers. For those who work in business and those who assist entrepreneurs as economic diplomats this is looked upon as bad news.
International trade and investment allow societies to prosper: it brings jobs and capital. Let us therefore continue to facilitate and talk to each other through the small instrument of the Diplomatic Economic Club.
Let 2020 be yet another year of interesting and useful meetings in our club house!

Appeal to world leaders and humanity

Diplomatic Economic Club strongly condemns and is not accepting any kind of aggression, military collisions, wars between countries, which are happening here close in the center of Europe, on the other continents of the world, in Asia, in Africa. Nothing can justify the use of force in any cases, everywhere it leads to suffering of civilians. We call all parts, leaders of all levels for a peaceful solution of any disagreements through the dialog and negotiations. Only the Peace on our planet, olny Friendship and mutual understanding promote the life of people. *Please don't even* allow yourself any thought about World War III, about nuclear weapons. All the humanity remembers the wars of the 20th century, and if somebody has forgotten, please remember. Stop War!
